Sonder // Variations
Sonder: Variations is a performance on involving a purging ritual of washing my body and bricks as a mechanism to cleanse points of my past self after coming out as a trans woman in 2018. The rubbing of the bricks with water is on thinking of friction of body to clay. A ritual in molding myself as on a stage for consumption the viewer. The flueroescent lights being a signal as they are programming to blink in morse code on a send off message to my family and old life as i moved towards a futurity. The remnants of the performance leaves imprints of the oscillating movements of self identification and actualization. The Performance occured at the exhibtion named “Within Receding Horizons” at the Sullivan Gallery in Chicago, IL
